This opening pre-season friendly against British Airways, newly promoted to the Middlesex County League, was played in three periods of 30 minutes each, and at the end the final score was 4-1 to BA.
The first period was goalless, and in the second period, Luke Heneghan opening the scoring with a solo effort, fending off numerous challenges before firing across the keeper into the corner of the net. BA responded very quickly with two long range efforts that gave keeper Garry Malone no chance.
The third period saw BA score twice more, one at the near post, a header from a corner and the fourth from the BA striker who fired across Garry Malone and into the corner.
Let's make no mistake, BA are no mugs and are an established side who know their stuff, and will be a hard side to beat in the Middlesex League this season.
This was a good workout nonetheless, and shall we say work in progress; there are other players to look at over the next few weeks.
